What type of jobs people do after MBA?
Now A days MBA has become the most popular master’s degree worldwide. Nowadays in the corporate world, this degree has been recognized to be a necessity for individuals to get promoted to the top management levels. Millions of students worldwide are reaching out for this degree in order to gain corporate success in the future. According to The Telegraph, MBA has been ranked the second most popular degree course, globally (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/universityeducation/8695883/The-top-10-most-popular-degree-courses.html?image=1). This course prepares students to become strategic leaders and even inculcate in their minds the sense of managing businesses. After pursuing an MBA students have a variety of options. They can pursue regular jobs as company managers by getting campus placements or they can chose to become entrepreneurs managing their own businesses. The best possible career options for MBA pass outs have been discussed below.
Investment banker
This is the most popular career that a person can pursue after MBA. This is basically a high salaried job even for fresh pass outs as they can expect a startup salary of above 50,000 per month. It also enables a person to rise to power as long as they provide good investment advice. For this job a person needs to have a Finance specialization in their MBA fields. In fact, this job requires a person to put forwards all of his basic knowledge and skills that he has earned during his MBA course like knowledge of money, accounting and business management.
Venture capitalist
Nowadays, the number of investors who are into buying new businesses has increased. These investors rely on quality advice regarding the choice of businesses to invest upon. The role of the venture capitalist thus is to guide these investors into investing properly into the right kind of businesses. This can be an independent profession and if MBA pass outs with Finance background pursue this career path, they can make huge amount of money by providing effective and efficient advice to the investors.
Analyst
In my own opinion, the reason why a person pursues an MBA is because of his desire to identify, analyze and solve problems. The career path to be followed in order to do so is of an Analyst. The job of an analyst is very detail specific and requires a person to analyze financial or market trends and issues and figure out solutions. Analysts can be of two types. Financial Analysts who must possess a MBA specialization in Finance, reviews current stock pricing changes and predicts future trends. A marketing analyst who should have a MBA specialization in Marketing is required to review demographics and success of current or previous advertisements and find out possibilities to create a better advertisement in the future.
Students who wish to pursue their career as a financial or marketing analyst can expect a startup salary in the range of 20,000 to 30,000 per month based on their specialization areas. The scope in this field is high and many people opt for this career path after MBA.
Management Consultant
The job of a management consultant or management analyst is very prestigious. As I myself had been a management consultant in one of my previous organizations, there I had advised company supervisors and even CEOs, who had consulted our firm, on ways to boost their business. The job of a management consultant requires the consultant to travel to his client company, investigate its corporate structure and give recommendations to improve profit.
New entrants to this field can expect a salary in the range of 25,000 to 30,000 per month. They can initially join as a management analyst and in seven to eight years period can see themselves as a consultant. If a person chooses to be an independent consultant, then he can expect he can expect huge payouts from his clients.
Human Resource professional
Persons who have their MBA specialization in human resource can chose to become Human Resource Managers in their coming years. As the organizations of today mainly rely on people management and workforce welfare, Human Resource area has gained prime importance. Initially students can opt for campus placement in some organization as a Human Resource associate. After a period of six to seven years based on their performance they can attain the position of a Manager in this field.
However, the salary payout in this area is comparatively lesser than other fields. But if a person has the willingness and zeal he or she can shine and come out as a successful professional within a few years time.
Entrepreneur
Studies have revealed that almost 80 percent of the people around the world pursue an MBA with the hope of becoming an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is in fact a widely accepted profession amongst MBA pass outs. The freedom to manage one’s own business, earn as much as possible according to one’s own will with no boss present is the desire of almost every individual
However, problems that MBA graduates may face while starting entrepreneurship are getting the start up cash for investment or acquiring customers. So fresh MBA pass outs can first gain experience in a firm for five to ten years before starting a business of their own. According to me, experience never hurts in fact it is useful as by working in a firm one can acquire the startup cash from his salary savings. Also one can establish proper network connections required to start a business.
It has been rightly quoted by Aristotle that, “Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work”. Whatever jobs MBA students opt for, relevant to their domain, they must first and foremost choose those jobs only in which they think themselves to be satisfied working for. If a person is satisfied with the career path he or she chooses, then success comes automatically.
Career after Graduation
Career After Graduation
1st of all Before you choose the best career after graduation, you need to know growth prospects, competition, availability of jobs, work requirements, etc. of that field. Remember that all salary brackets given here are mainly for freshers. The figures are approximate, and the actual salary depends on several factors. If you are good in English Language or Mathematics, you may tend to get better salaries than rest. Communication skills make a remarkable difference in overall career development irrespective of nature of work. Additionally, if you are good in basic calculations and Mathematics, it will help in arriving at right decisions. Here is a list of options that will give a good start.
Sales and Business Development
Sales and Business development is an evergreen career. It will never go out of fashion. In the era of high competition, the demand for business development professionals will only increase. Every company, irrespective of its size and strength, requires sales professionals. Business Development Roles in FMCG/IT/Manufacturing companies are one the most sought after profiles in top B-Schools. Many companies hire graduates for entry level sales profiles. If you are good at interacting with people, you will love this job. Business development profile is also a mini entrepreneurial role. You can control your salary, incentive and career progression. No office politics can stop you from growing to the pinnacle of your career if you get business for the company. If you ever dream of becoming an entrepreneur and starting your own business, this kind of role will give a huge boost.
Startups, eCommerce, and smaller IT firms hire fresh graduates for business development executive and pre-sales roles. The earnings of entry level sales professionals can start with INR 10,000 per month and can go up to 30,000 per month depending on personality and fluency in the language.
Marketing/Advertising/Communication
If you are one of those who believe sales and marketing are the same things, please do some research before applying for next marketing executive role. Marketing positions are mainly office jobs. You do research, analysis, conceptualize and implement marketing campaigns, develop strategies, etc. Again this job is most sought after in B-Schools placements. Since this role requires strategic thinking, companies prefer to hire MBAs. However, if you have graduated from a reputed college, you may get an opportunity. Smaller companies who can’t afford MBAs hire fresh graduates and train them for their specific roles. You must have excellent communication and analytical skills to excel in this field. Limited number of marketing roles in an Organization makes this area intensely competitive. Depending on your college, and employer, fresh graduates get a salary in the range of INR 15,000-30,000 per month.
Management
Everyone is doing MBA so it must be good. Right? Wrong! MBA is no more a lucrative career option if you have done it from a 2nd or 3rd tier college. People do MBA for better campus placements. Placement records of two and three tier colleges have been pathetic in last few years. Most of the MBA graduates are unemployable. The worst thing comes when you pay INR 10lakh+ to do MBA and remain unemployed after completing the course.
So does that mean one one should not do MBA? No, this is an extreme conclusion. You must prepare well for MBA entrance exams like CAT/FMA/IIFT/SNAP/XAT/MAT etc. and get into a decent college. If unluckily you can’t get into a decent college then work hard on your communication skills, aptitude and get practical exposure while doing MBA. If done well from a reputed college, you may be eligible to do almost any non-technical job available in the economy. You can work in sales & marketing, HR, Banking, Financial services, FMCG, Operations, IT, Manufacturing and any other business functions or sectors. On an average MBA graduates get a salary in the range of INR 25,000 to INR 1,00,000.
CS/CA/CFA/CWA:
If you have done your graduation in commerce stream then you will naturally go for any of these: Company Secretary (CS), Chartered Accountant (CA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Costs and Works professional (CWA). Demand for these professionals is always high in any economy. Before choosing a particular course, you must know the difference between these disciplines and what kind of jobs you will be doing after completing them successfully. If you are a commerce graduate, you can also go for MBA in Finance to develop a career opportunity in Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions. The salary depends on the discipline and communications skills of applicants. However, salaries of most of the professionals in these fields start at INR 40,000 per month.
IT Degree/Courses: MCA/Animation/Web Design
IT courses are not restricted to just science graduates. Anyone can learn a programming language or can work in IT after doing a professional certificate course or a degree course like MCA. Sales people constitute 80 percent of the employees in insurance companies. They hire a large number of fresh graduates as entry level sales executives. You may find it difficult to handle sales pressure initially. However, it becomes a stable and regular job in 2-3 years down the time. With experience, you will also learn how to deal with such pressures.
In the banking sector, you can expect an initial salary of INR 15,000 to INR 35,000 per month, where as in insurance and financial services industries the salary range could be INR 10,000 – 25,000 per month.
Library Science:
Library Science is a multidisciplinary field that includes practices and tools of management, information technology, education and several other areas. You need to have a relevant degree in Library science to be employed in school or college libraries, public and private libraries, and museums, etc. The salary ranges from INR 15,000 to 30,000 per month.

For teaching in Colleges and universities or equivalent, you should have a post graduate degree and clear NET. In many cases, graduates join private colleges as guest faculty or on contract and pursue their post graduation and prepare for NET along with their contractual jobs.
Many professionals prefer to work in the booming coaching industry. Coaching institutes pay better than their school or college counterparts and require no B.Ed. or NET. They also have well-planned career progression in place for people who are seriously looking to build a career in the coaching industry. The salary in the education sector can vary from INR 15,000 to 1,00,000 lakh depending on your education credentials and field.

You can also try your luck for National School of Drama which is the biggest institute for theater training in India. Alternatively, you can start your channel on YouTube to showcase your talent to the online audience. If you are creative and talented, you will see your channel growing with the help of a little digital marketing efforts. Many YouTube stars are doing better than established film and television actors.
Modelling
You don’t need any educational qualification to get into modeling profession. Like other areas, starting early will benefit you in the long run. However, if you intend to do modeling, you should start preparing for it seriously. It is advised that you should continue your education/job while preparing for modeling. Having a stable income and career will help you pass through that struggle period relatively easier. Along with required style, body figure, etc. you must know the art of networking. Talent alone will not help much. Also while picking up the first assignment, you shouldn’t pay much attention to the fee you are offered.

If you need a corporate experience and at the same time willing to earn a decent income, you may prefer work in BPO sector. How to Change career witut gong to school
Ah, college. You fun, expensive, tedious monster. Some days I miss college, but most days I'm just happy it's over. (I'm sure most people would have a similar sentiment.) But what can you do when you fall out of love with the job you got your degree for? Or better still, end up in a career path that isn't a match with your degree or interests?
Maybe you just want a change or are excited by a new opportunity. So, how can you land that new job without going back to school?
With the astronomical burden of student loans weighing on most millennials, I'm one of the few unicorns who graduated without any student loan burden (Thanks, Mom and Dad!) Perhaps because of this, I was super reluctant to go back to school and take out loans.
How to Change Careers without Going Back to School
Figure It Out:
You could be in a career you hate and looking to make a change. You could leave that career and fall into whatever happens to comes next, but that's a job and not a career path. Building a career takes focus, calculation, and skill, especially since the job market is so competitive these days.
If you know your current gig isn't working out for you but aren't sure of what comes next, my best advice is to do something small each day to attempt to figure out it out. Examples include:
Researching a career path on the internet that sounds interesting.
Taking a class that you've always wanted to take.
Starting a blog just to write to clarify your feelings or put it all out there.
Two years ago I found myself unemployed and used my free time to start the blog I always wanted to write but couldn't when I was working full time at a hedge fund. I got a subscription to money magazine, and took every webinar under the sun about social media..
Become a subject matter expert:
If you want to make a career change without going back to school you're going to have to become an expert. Going to school gives you the knowledge, but that isn't the only way to get where you want to go (unless of course, you want to become a doctor or lawyer or need some other type of post-professional degree.) Blogging and writing are some of the fastest ways to become a subject matter expert for two reasons:
1) You'll have to read and research a lot to create content.
2) Writing is a great way to dispel thought leadership and build your portfolio. Blogs are proof you know what you're talking about! You'll also be able to get to know others in your field by reading their thought leadership.
Becoming a “subject matter expert” is going to beef up your resume. You'll be able to list places you've been published, courses you've taken, and your blog and additional related experience on your resume in the place where your formal education should be.
Go Online
Well, since the internet is a place of boundless opportunity and knowledge, it's only natural that there are a ton of online certificate programs for just about everything. For example, if you want to work for an online blog or business that needs help with social media or search engine optimization, consider taking an SEO certificate class. Not only do certifications look good on your resume, but they also can help you negotiate better pay or really prove your worth to a company. Just make sure that you only take courses from trusted certificate programs – and always research before you pay for any class!
Network with Existing Contacts
Everyone says to “network.” Everyone, everyone, everyone. Admittedly, I hate networking, but if you're looking to make a career change, the key to the position that starts you on the new path probably lies with someone you already know. Someone who

Bengaluru students go on Hunger strikes
Bengaluru, Nov 13: Students of Visvesvaraya Technical University (VTU) go on hunger strikes on Saturday alleging the checking of examination papers by the examiners, was the reason of getting an unusal number of students failing.
The students demand that those failed be advanced to the next year as there was a blunder, during the checking of the examination paper across courses during July semester.”Close to half of the total 4.5 lakh students here across all courses were failed. Many of those who had got marks in single digits, ended up scoring 65 or even more upon re-evaluation of the marks,” Manan, a National Students Union of India (NSUI) member said.
“Close to half of the total 4.5 lakh students here across all courses were failed. Many of those who had got marks in single digits, ended up scoring 65 or even more upon re-evaluation of the marks,” Manan, a National Students Union of India (NSUI) member said.
However, the Registrar of the Visvesvaraya Technological University, H.N. Jagannatha Reddy, on Saturday request to VTU students to end their ongoing agitation and pay attention on their academic activities.
“There may have been some human error or even technical error during checking. Every year about 17 percent of total papers come for re-evaluation, this number is same for July semester as well. We appeal all the students to call off their strike,” Mr Reddy added.

A thorough going teacher of psychology, blessed with a fertile mind and revolutionary concepts always looked for out of the box solutions in the estimable school where he imparted education. He repeatedly attempted to capture the imagination of his tutees by bringing something noteworthy to class and trying to create an ‘Aha!’ moment for the students.
He realised that wisdom delivered with an element of theatre and those riveting moments kept alive the interest of his students. Once he was discussing various attributes of the human mind within the four walls of the classroom and found the response of the students to be tepid, a trifle jejune.
So he embarked upon the idea of taking the students for an out-of-classroom ‘class’. This included watching the animation movie Jungle Book, a visit to a zoo followed by a rendezvous to a sanctuary.
The students were enthralled by the movie.
The adventures of Mowgli, a human cub raised by a pack of wolves, his interactions with the panther and the free spirited bear, the encounters with a venomous python and a treacherous tiger kept the students on the edge.
The teacher then asked the students to ponder on the not-so-obvious differences between a zoo and a sanctuary. The now energised group replied in unison that as animals are caged in a zoo it affected the psyche of the animals, while perhaps that was not the case in a sanctuary. The reply of the school children was no rocket science, but the palpable enthusiasm was discernible. The spark of creativity was thus ignited among the neophytes.
Taking the topic further the teacher compared the students to the human cub and the animals in the movie; the zoo and the sanctuary representing various facets and dimensions of the human mind. He juxtaposed these on the study of the chambers of the human mind.
The teacher posed a few questions to the students- which were the largest, swiftest, wisest and the tallest creatures in the animal kingdom. The prescient students once again in unison replied they were the elephant, cheetah, owl and the giraffe respectively.
A robust mind necessarily needs to enhance the qualities of becoming lightening swift, streaked with attributes of being large in size, tall and wise. The chambers of the mind evolve by possessing these traits. However, the educator felt that his protégés had something more to learn.
The lion was missing from the picture and so was the leonine aspect of the human mind. The lion is the emperor of the jungle. The monarch of the jungle moves with utmost majesty-almost disdain- but with enormous grace.
This species is extremely courageous, bold, an intrepid warrior, ready to embrace an assortment of challenges, unstoppable in the moves it undertakes, has enormous self-belief and faith and never allows an opportunity to slip by. It is extremely charismatic and every animal is its food and prey.
Therefore, drawing upon this analogy the educationalist exhorted his students to lionize their minds.
The instructor in a facile and telling manner homed in on the point that while speed, alacrity, brilliance and wisdom occupy certain chambers of the human mind, the most consequential and illustrious attribute of the human mind must be its intrepid nature and self-belief.
